Renovations
During the company's history, many properties have been renovated with resulting high quality finishes with particular focus on maintaining the character and traditional features of the buildings. Work has been carried out on derelict barns, listed cottages and houses, Victorian Mansion houses and turning houses spoilt by years of bad workmanship and design into fantastic homes.
Aspects of Paul Dixon Ltd’s work include flag floors with under floor heating, refurbishing original oak beams, and re plastering in old character finish with curved walls and freehand corners. Floors, windows and all aspects of joinery are carried out in a style to restore and preserve the properties. Oak beams, new and old, are sourced and used to sympathetically create and enhance a buildings character and style. Often these beams are used as part of the structural design and not merely as a non structural feature. Internal and External Lime pointing is often utilised to maintain the character of a building whilst being practical and pleasing to the eye. Lime renders and pointing are breathable and practical materials which in some circumstances are more advantageous than hard modern cements. Roofing and external work is also carried out as part of property renovation. Where these techniques and materials are employed the work is all carried out using the traditional methods and materials.
